Re-Imagining Your Immaculate Collection

Shout Factory's Brian Ward moderates a panel on restoring and scanning film elements, as well as digitizing video masters. Mark, Tony and Reed will explain the industry-wide issue with deteriorating film content.  Reed will show off his amazing film scanner that can scan film up to ten times as fast as normal scanner, while Ian will tell his mobile adventures of capturing the entire Farm Aid archive in a similar turnaround time.

VIRAL VIDEOS

Veteran Clip Show Producer Teddy Cannon (Ridiculousness) moderates a panel of viral video agents, including Newsflare, LPE360, Trusted Media Brands (formerly Jukin Media) and AFV.  Rohwedder offers some historical perspective on the beginnings of viral videos, and how they existed before the internet was created.  Cannon leads a discussion on how brokers work, and the advantages and disadvantages of having a viral video agency represent your content.  These agencies will show off a few of their favorite clips, and show the process of how to license this wild content into your projects.

WATCHING THE DETECTIVES:

Case Studies of Recent Discoveries

Lizzy McGlynn, FOCAL International's Researcher of the Year, moderates a panel on some pf the amazing chestnuts discovered from the glorious variety television genre.  Multi-Emmy Award winner Binder will talk about unearthing a never-before-seen 1963 civil rights special featuring one of the last performances of Nat King Cole; Wingate will discuss his much-heralded discovery this year of some Milton Berle footage that has been identified as the earliest color television footage ever.  Marshall and Kozak will show some of their recent discoveries, and the latter offering a perspective from the producers' side on how this decades-old archival content has never been more in demand.

Case Study:

NEWS COVERAGE OF JFK ASSASSINATION

After commemorating last year's 60th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's assassination, award-winning archive producer Rich Remsburg (Netflix's Bobby Kennedy for President) moderates a unique case study on the compelling third-party content from this historical four days. Curators from the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza showcase recently-restored footage -- courtesy of Scene Savers -- from the First Couple's landing at Love Field, to the assassination itself, to the live local news coverage of the Dallas Police's hunt for the assassin. to Kennedy's medical status, to the arrest and subsequent shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald, and finally -- to the heartbreaking image of JFK Jr. as he salutes the horse-driven casket that carried the beloved President to his final resting place. Jennings, who produced Nat Geo's The Lost Tapes: The Assassination offers his perspective on the compelling content amassed over this tragic four days in history.

Executive Producer of News Charles Stewart (Los Angeles Local News Executive Producer
) moderates a panel on acquiring and licensing locals news featuring content from both news affiliates, as well as top stringers from Los Angeles, Chicago and New York.  Joe represents the massive Tegna library (formerly Gannett), and Morgan of the University of North Texas reps other Texas stations.  Marika will share her adventures from the air capturing such iconic moments as the first discovery of OJ Simpson leading police on a slow-speed chase, as well as the infamous Reginald Denny beating during the 1992 L.A. riots.  Ukranian journalist Oliya Scootercaster will take us through her exploits as a Ukranian war journalist, as well as her time spent as a newly-inducted New York-based stringer. Legendary Chicago stringer David Lasker returns again to offer his perspective on local shooters, and digs into his amazing HD library of captured content.
